Does Egypt needs these New Satellite Cities?
This article examines the scope of Sino-Egyptian collaboration and its impact on Egypt’s political economic policies. In recent years, the Egyptian state has launched ambitious initiatives, including the construction of a "New Administrative Capital" and the declaration of a "New Republic." Central to these urban agenda is Egypt’s increasing financial and infrastructural engagement with China, particularly through large-scale mega projects. This article explores how Chinese-backed investments and loans may influence Egypt’s economic trajectory and assesses whether this partnership signals a shift toward a state-capitalist model in Egypt. Through this lens, the study offers insights into the evolving dynamics of Egypt’s political economy.
