Yiqin Huang
Dr. Carrie Hwang is an international relations scholar with expertise in public diplomacy, alliance theory, and media studies. She holds a PhD in International Relations from King’s College London, where her doctoral research examined the intersection of international political communication and alliance formation. She also earned a master’s degree in Public Policy from University College London.
Currently, Dr. Hwang serves as an affiliate scholar in International Affairs and Executive Development at the Abu Dhabi School of Management. She is also the founder of RUYA Intangible Cultural Heritage Centre, dedicated to the preservation and revitalisation of cultural heritage through international collaboration. Also, she is an alumna of Dubai Business Associates, a leadership program under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, with half a year of working experience at Dubai Future Foundation.
Dr. Hwang’s research focuses on the role of cultural actors in public diplomacy, international cooperation, and identity construction. Prior to her academic career, she spent over a decade in the field of international journalism and media studies, gaining extensive experience in global news reporting and cultural analysis. She actively contributes to interdisciplinary research, bridging international relations and the cultural and creative industries, with a particular interest in how soft power is exercised through cultural narratives and institutional partnerships.
